Final stop in Laos
Once we had made it to Vientiane after thinking we may well not we were piled into an already crammed Jumbo Tuk Tuk at least 17 of us in a tuk tuk made for at the most 10 and we were charged extortionate prices for the privilege couldn’t really see anything so extra glad when we eventually made it to the center. The city was much nicer than we had imagined it would be and busier too. We mu
The Party
We headed to Vang Vieng on a bus that was due to leave at 6.30 finally left at 7.45…I was full of trepidation after our last journey. Everyone in Laos is pretty laid back nothing has been on time so far and no one seems to have any worries by this. So I doubt anything will be on time again. It was however the most luxurious mini bus we have had yet and only 6 of us in it Most importantly

Southern Laos The Objective Eye
Sabadee everybody Been making my way down Laos. I’ve grown to really love this country. I feel like it’s a country with a perfect balance of life. It’s not backwards by any means but very simple. There aren’t extremes of the rich and the poor. People seem to all live happily with a simple life. There aren’t any slums but there are a lot of villages that farmers reside at. The best part about i
Luang Prabang
Arrived in Luang Prabang really tired. The two day slow boat really took it’s toll. Fortunately the town is really nice and relaxing. It’s in between 2 rivers so the views are spectacular no matter where you are. First day just walked around soaking up the atmosphere. Climbed the hill in the middle of the town for fantastic views. On the second night watched the World Cup finals with a bunch o
Vang Vieng
Yowza. Currently in Vang Vieng after an atrocious 5 hour bus ride from Luang Prabang. Vang Vieng… what to say about this place… I can see why this place has a lovehate relationship with visitors. Beautiful place… but I can see bad bad things happening here if stayed in for too long. Are there rules here Nope. Now we read in our Lonely Planet tour books that this is a If ordering opium sha
When in Laos…
The slow boat to Laos was true to its name. Spending 6 hours on bus to the thailaos border spending the night in Huay Xai only to depart on a two day journey down to Luang Prabang. Though slow there was at least a decent breeze good views and great company. A one night stay over in the small town of Pak Beng proved memorable including some of the best Indian curry i have ever had. Playin
Sabaidee
Sabaidee from LaosEven though we enjoyed Vietnam after nearly a month there we were excited to move on to Laos. We flew into Luang Prabang a little bit underprepared. Alice had been ill and we kind of forgot that we were entering a new country. We were a bit worried when we realised we were on the plane with no cash in any currency no passport photos and no idea whether the airport would have
Now that’s a waterfall
May 25A group of us hire a tuk tuk for the 45minute drive to the Kouang Si waterfall. After the trickle hailed as a waterfall near Pai I’m not expecting much but this waterfall or rather falls is magnificent. Water cascades over ledges of rock into milky blue pools. We follow a path crossing and recrossing the stream to more pools and tumbling water until we reach a steep slippery climb to t
Laos adventures
HelloSo much has happened in the past weeksish and I don’t think I’m going to be able to talk about everything so I think it’s going to be a summary of what I can remember…Nong Khiew and Muang NgoiSo straight after the last blog post I went on a 2 day trip to 2 small villages 4 hours north of Luang Prabang by minivan and boat. These tiny villages along the banks of the Mekong have become m
