Sabaidee
Sabaidee from LaosEven though we enjoyed Vietnam after nearly a month there we were excited to move on to Laos. We flew into Luang Prabang a little bit underprepared. Alice had been ill and we kind of forgot that we were entering a new country. We were a bit worried when we realised we were on the plane with no cash in any currency no passport photos and no idea whether the airport would have
When in Laos…
The slow boat to Laos was true to its name. Spending 6 hours on bus to the thailaos border spending the night in Huay Xai only to depart on a two day journey down to Luang Prabang. Though slow there was at least a decent breeze good views and great company. A one night stay over in the small town of Pak Beng proved memorable including some of the best Indian curry i have ever had. Playin

4000 Islands into Cambodia
Chris’s SectionThe overnight bus from Vientiane to Pakse was pretty good. Even though the beds were about 2 inches too short I still managed to get quite a bit of sleep and the 11 hour journey went quickly. The name of Sweet Love Road comes from an old legend. It was said that once a well-bred girl who lived on this road fell in love with a low class cattle herder. Facing objections from bo…
Guilin’s Latest Attraction Towers Over Karst Mountains
BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhuanet) — The verdant and effortlessly splayed karst mountains of Guilin unfurled before me as I pulled open the hotel room draperies in a performance that was pure Panavision.
The hills, which have inspired legions of artists to recreate the rolling enchantment in paintings, prints and written paeans - not to mention the winsome backside of the 20-yuan note - are merely a backdrop for the Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin, a stunning new hotel that sets a new standard in the Guang…
